Antacids are used for relieving acidity in stomach because these are bases which neutarlise to form salt and water......!Hope it helps......!

An antacid is a base also known as milk of magnesia or magnesium hydroxide.
It is taken as a medicine when there is an excess of HCl in someone's body ,i.e.,acidity, it helps in reducing it.
