You see, Balance is the distribution of visual weight in a composition. We use an axis around which the weight is balanced. Generally, this axis lies in the geometrical center of the composition. Symmetrical and Asymmetrical balances are just two types of balances.
A Symmetrical balance is the simplest type of balance to see. The same shapes/geometry is repeated on either side of the axis distributing equally the visual weight. Something like this:
