electrodes are used in arc welding.
electrodes are used for fused cells.
electrolysis electrodes are made of platinum.

an electrode is a material through electricity leaves or enter the electrolyte; it is used in the process of electrolysis; it is of two types the anode and the cathode ; the metals from which this is made r copper ,platinum, silver,  these are all active electrodes
