Answer:

An apparatus in which electrolysis is carried out, consisting of one or many electrolytic cells. An electrolyzer is a vessel (or system of vessels) filled with an electrolyte, in which electrodes—a cathode and anode—have been placed; the cathode is connected to the negative pole of the direct-current source and the anode is connected to the positive pole.

Like fuel cells, electrolyzers consist of an anode and a cathode separated by an electrolyte. Different electrolyzers function in slightly different ways, mainly due to the different type of electrolyte material involved.

Electrolyzers use electricity to break water into hydrogen and oxygen. The electrolysis of water occurs through an electrochemical reaction that does not require external components or moving parts. The hydrogen produced from an electrolyzer is perfect for use with hydrogen fuel cells
