A soft metal core made into a magnet by the passage of electric current through a coil surrounding it is called electromagnet.
The main properties of an Electromagnet are:
(i) An electromagnet is temporary in nature.
(ii) An electromagnet is made of a soft iron core.
(iii) The magnetic field strength can be changed
(iv) An electromagnet can be easily demagnetized by switching off the current.
(v) The polarity can be reversed.
Hope it helps you

Answer:
A magnet formed temporarily due to magnetic field of a current is called an electromagnet.
Explanation:
Electromagnet have the following properties:-
- on like a permanent magnet the electromagnets magnetism is not permanent.
- The electromagnet has pole at its end. However , the end at which a pole appears is not fixed. Thepolls get interchange when the direction of current through the solenoid is changed.
the iron used nails bolts acceptor is a soft magnetic material. search a material becomes magnetized in a magnetic field but loses its magnetism once the field is removed.
