An element is a pure substance that can not be decomposed into simpler substances by chemical means and is made of only one kind of atoms.

There are 118 different elements known to us. Out of these, 92 occur naturally on the earth.

Other 26 are made by scientists in laboratories.

Metals : Aluminium, Gold, Calcium..

Non-metals : Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Carbon, Sulphur..

Metalloids : Silicon, Germanium ..
