Answer:

An element is the simplest form of a pure substance and it is made up of only one kind of atom. An element cannot be broken down further by physical means for chemical reactions. For example, hydrogen, carbon ,oxygen and Aluminium are elements.

k = Potassium

NA = Sodium

BR = Bromine

ZN = Zinc

CU = Copper

AG = Silver

An atom is the smallest particle of an element that takes place in a chemical reaction. Atoms are usually not capable of independent or existence but a group of atoms of same or different elements exist as one species, for example, H2,O2,P4,S8, H2O NH3 and NaCL.

Pure substance are made up of either atoms or molecules. Atoms have only one kind of particles having a definite set a properties. Molecules on the other hand have more than one kind of particles combined together in a fixed ratio by mass. Both elements and compounds are pure substance they have fixed composition and definite set of properties.
