Impulsive Force
The force that two colliding bodies exert on one another acts only for a short time, giving a brief but strong push. This force is called an impulsive force.The impulsive force is much stronger than any other force available at that point of time and acts on an object for a very short interval during collision or explosion

It is defined as the rate of change of momentum
Impulse =mv-mu(momentum change)
Impulsive force=Impulse/time

Example: A cricket bat hitting a ball for short time reversing its direction of motion

The product of average force and the time it is exerted is called the impulse of force. From Newton's second law
