 a_{n} \: is \: the \: {n}^{th} \: term \: of \: an \: AP \: for \: any \: value \: of \: n.

Example: AP: 2, 4, 6, 8.....
 a_{3} =6
 6 \: is \: the \: {3}^{rd}\:term \: of \: this \: AP.
