a number which cannot be expressed in the form of p by Q is called irrational number.

in other words the numbers which are non terminating and non repeating are called irrational numbers

a number which cannot be expressed in p by Q form is known as irrational number like root 2 or 0.757575... the irrational number is also known as non terminating
