An isotropic solid is a solid material in which physical properties do not depend on its orientation . It is an example of isotropy which can also apply to fluids , or other non material concepts ... the opposite is anisotropy solids . Most crystal structures are actually anisotropic.

hope it help

Anisotropy can be defined as the ability of a material to be dirrectionly independent i.e. showing different properties in different directions. The properties of an apostrophy material changes along an axis.
