what is antibody?and its function
Answers
When a human body gets infected, by microorganism which cause harm known as pathogens, there needs to be a defence system, otherwise the body can be severely damaged.
This is where our immune system comes into the picture
The immune system acts as a security guard to the body. If the thief, or in this case the pathogen manages to get past the 'gate' the immune system is alerted.
The immune system then begins to produce a Y shaped protein for attacking the pathogen.
This protein is called a antibody.
The antibody either tags the attacking pathogen so that other antibodies can fight it, or it takes on the pathogen on its own.
Answer:
Antibodies are glycoproteins and are also called immunoglobulins. They are present in the blood and function together with the human immune system. They are used by the immune system to identify, attack and kill foreign objects such as bacteria and viruses. They are produced by medical science and used to boost the immunity of patients to prevent infection.
