There is no such apparent reason but his friends tried to guess it. They said he mind was tossing in the ocean because he was tensed and worried about his ships which were busy in the midst of windy ocean.

The second reason was that perhaps he was in love and had a sad experience about it.

His friends try to cheer him up by telling all these above reasons and saying what they would have done if they were in his place. In this scene we also see that Gratiano tries in vain to cheer up Antonio.
