What is apartheid? How did whites segregated the blacks under this system?

Apartheid was a system of racial discrimination imposed on blacks by whites. It divided and labeled the people according to their colour.

The whites saw all blacks as inferior. They were not allowed in the white residential areas.There were separate churches ,buses,theatres,schools etc for black and whites.
