When we immerse any object in liquid, an upward force called as upthrust acts on the object, and simultaneously the weight of the body acts downward.
So when we immerse a block in water and it floats, then the apparent weight of the block is equal to zero because the weight of the object acting vertically downwards is balanced the upward force called as upthrust.
