In humans the appendix is small and has no known function, but in rabbits, hares, and some other herbivores it is involved in the digestion of cellulose.a section or table of subsidiary matter at the end of a book or document. Normally, the appendix sits in the lower right abdomen. The function of the appendix is unknown. One theory is that theappendix acts as a storehouse for good bacteria, “rebooting” the digestive system after diarrheal illnesses. Other experts believe the appendix is just a useless remnant from our evolutionary past.
