Aqua-regia is a freshly prepared mixture of 1 part of concentrated nitric acid and 3 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid. Aqua- regia can dissolve all metals.

Aqua Regia (Latin name for 'Royal water') is a freshly prepared mixture of concentrated Hydrochloric acid and concentrated Nitric acid in the ratio of 3:1.

It can dissolve Gold even though neither of these acids do so alone. It is a highly corrosive, fuming liquid. It is one of the few reagents that is available to dissolve gold and platinum.
