Aquatic biomes are defined as biomes that are located in water, rather than on land. A biome is an ecological community with a specific climate and certain plants and animals that live in it. There are two types of biomes: terrestrial and aquatic.

Aquatic Biome is the largest Biome. Aquatic regions house numerous species of plants and animals both large and small .

Aquatic Biome can be divided into two categories : Fresh water regions (eg: ponds , and rivers ) and Salt water regions( eg: oceans and estuaries).
