They have also high tolerance to high saline water. They also have a characteristic ability of swimming upto three kilometers into the sea. They do this in order to search mangroves, which is their primary food.

This camel is breeded in order to increase their population as they are a major source of livelihood for the  pastoralists, traditional livestock keepers/communities,etc.
