Answer:

Area of ∆ABC = 25cm²

Explanation:

Let diameter of circle = d.

and radius of circle = r.

and length of chord = AB = AC = a.

and centre point of circle = O

So, d = 10cm → r = d/2 = 5cm.

Radius of circle: The distance between centre of circle and any point on circle.

So, radius = OA = OB = OC = 5cm.

The distance OA = the height of ∆ABC.

Also this distanced perpendicularly bisects BC.

→ AO is perpendicular to BC.

Now, a new triangle ∆OAB is formed.

In ∆OAB, by applying Pythagorean theorem,

AO² + BO² = AB²

→ AB = AC = 5√2cm.

Now, sides of ∆ABC are 10cm, 5√2cm, 5√2cm.

Herons formula for calculating area of triangle

= √s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c) - eq.1

where s = semi perimeter of triangle

and a,b,c are sides of triangle.

Here, s = (sum of all sides)/2

s = 5(1+√2)cm

Substitute all the values in eq.1 then you get,

Area of triangle = 25cm²
