Us humans started creating art when we didnt even know what it meant. We can confirm by the cave drawings that even then people wanted to capture their day to day life. Then ahead of time, people wanted to capture the beauty of a single person, hence came portraits. So art was always about capturing something or the other. The best example I can give is 'The last supper'. It tried to capture what was going on at that time. But is it accurate? No not really because the artist wanted capture just its beauty. And thats art. Capturing the beauty of things. Does it always have to be realistic? No, not at all. Thats why we have art styles because to capture somethings beauty we dont need to have rules.
