Answer:

Artificial Intelligence makes our lives more efficient every day AI powers many programs and services that help us do everyday things such as connecting with friends, using an email program, or using a ride-share service.

Navigation apps such as Maps use A.I. to analyze the speed of movement of traffic. It also takes in user-reported incidents, such as traffic accidents or road construction, to predict how long it will take you to reach your destination and uses that information to suggest the fastest route.

AI is the branch of computer science that aims at creating expert and intelligent computer systems which simulate certain human qualities such as, learning, reasoning, communicating, seeing, hearing, and sensation. So, AI is used to create intelligent machines which help us. AI is a part of almost everything we use today such as smartphones, cars and banks.

Some main areas of application of AI are:

  • Expert System
  • Natural Language Processor
  • Intelligent agents
  • Pattern recognition
  • Robotics
  • Intelligent Apps (I-Apps)

Artificial Intelligence is relatively new field in science & engineering. The gestation of Artificial Intelligence started in 1950. Alan Turing in his article "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" in 1950 introduced the Turing Test, machine learning, genetic algorithms and reinforcement learning. Alan Turing (1912-1954) is called the father of computer science & Artificial Intelligence. John McCarthy first coined the term "Artificial Intelligence" in 1956 at Dartmouth conference, where a two month workshop was conducted on automata theory, neutral nets and study of intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence has advanced very rapidly in the past decade because of greater use of science, engineering and mathematics in experimenting and comparing approaches. Artificial Intelligence research also overlaps with tasks such as robotics, control systems, scheduling, data mining, logistics, speech & facial recognition etc.
