Artificial kidney is often a synonym for hemodialysis, but may also, refer to renal replacement therapies that are in use and/or in development. Hemodialysis is a procedure in which a dialysis machine with a special filter called a transplant kidney, or dialyzer, is used to clean your blood. To inject your blood into a dial, the doctor needs to enter, or enter, your veins. This is done with minor surgery, usually on your arm.
