Answer:

Ashoka’s message mainly was to live in peace and practise the principles of Ahimsa by:

•Being gentle with servants and Slaves.

•Not quarrelling with others.

•Respecting one’s elders.

•Treating all creatures with compassion.

Ashoka adopted several measures to spread his dhamma. Some of them are:

• He himself set an example before his people by strictly following Ahimsa.

• He appointed some officers known as Dhamma Mahamattas who went from place to place explaining the message of dhamma.

•He got the principles of dhamma inscribed on rocks and pillars, instructing his officials to read it for the ones who could not read it themselves.

•He also sent messengers to spread ideas about Dhamma to other lands: Syria, Egypt, Greece, and Sri Lanka .
