Answer: Ashoka is known as one of the greatest rulers of India and of the world. He is remembered as one of the wisest kings who ever ruled. He was a great conqueror, but he gave up war and violence for good after his victory over Kalinga. With the policy of religious tolerance, he taught the world that we should respect all religions. Ashoka showed his sense of commitment for virtues in life through his principles. He laid stress on moral conduct, love and non- violence. These are the ideals which mankind ought to follow sincerely.
