⚫Arthropoda is a Latin word which means artro joints and podos feet or legs.

⚫Arthropoda is the largest phylum. They are the first animals to have voluntary muscles. Arthropoda are classified in to 7 classes and also classified into 4 major groups.

⚫Arthropoda can be either terrestrial or aquatic.

⚫They posses a chitinous exoskeleton that must be shed during growth.

⚫The paired appendages are jointed.

⚫The segmented bodies are arranged into regions, called tagmata(e.g., head,throax,abdomen)

⚫They have bilateral symmetry.

⚫Most arthropoda have internal fertilization and are oviparous,meaning they lay eggs to reproduce.
