  • Atmosphere is the mixture of gases which surrounds Earth.

  • Without the atmosphere there could be no life on Earth.

  • The atmosphere keeps the climate on Earth moderate compared to that of other planets.

  • The composition of the earth atmosphere is about 78% nitrogen , 21%oxygen , 0.9% argon with water vapour ,carbon dioxide and other gasses.

  • The gravitational pull of the earth keep the atmospheric layer close to the earth.

Different layers of atmosphere :-

Trophosphere

  • 8- 16 km from earth surface.
  • Temperature is decreasing with increasing altitude.
  • all weather phenomena happens in this layer.

Stratosphere

  • 16 to 50 km from Earth Surface
  • Temperature is increasing with increasing altitude, because of presence of ozone layer which aborbs the ultraviolet radiations and increase the temperature.

Mesosphere

  • 50-80 km
  • Coolest temperature of earth found at the top point of this layer.

Thermosphere

  • 80 to 400 km
  • All radio wave radiation found in this layer, which is used for signal transmission of TV, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi etc.

Exosphere

  • It is the outer most layer.
