what is atmosphere? why does it gets difficult to breathe at high altitudes?
ANSWER = Thick layer around the Earth's surface is called atmosphere. It extends upto 300 km above the Earth surface. It is thicker at sea lable and becomes thinner as we go higher above the Earth's surface and thus it is difficult to breath at high altitude.

Answer:
The first reason is gravity. Earth's gravity pulls air as close to the surface as possible. The second reason is density. As altitude increases, the amount of gas molecules in the air decreases—the air becomes less dense than air nearer to sea level
Answer:
Atmosphere is the thin layer of air that surrounds the earth. It is made up of various gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxides, dust particles and water vapour. The gravitational force of the earth holds the atmosphere around it. It protects us from harmful rays and scorching heat of the sun.
The air at higher altitudes is colder, less dense, and contains fewer oxygen molecules. This means that you need to take more breaths in order to get the same amount of oxygen as you would at lower altitudes. The higher the elevation, the more difficult breathing becomes.
