The pressure exerted by the earth's atmosphere at any given point,being the product of the mass of the atmospheric column of the unitarea above the given point and of the gravitational acceleration at thegiven point. Atmospheric pressure is simply the result of the weight of the air above any particular point on earth. Gravity is the force that gives everything including atmospheric gases their weight. It is as simple as that.
