Refraction of light caused by earths atmosphere is the phenomenon for the changes that occur in the process of light travelling to the atmosphere due to change in the refractive index.

i.) Stars twinkles because of turbulent forces in the atmosphere of the Earth. As the scattering of light occurs the light from the star is refracted in different directions which looks as if they are twinkling.

ii.) Advanced sunrise and delayed sunset lights refractive property of being delayed by 8 minutes resulting in such phenomenon.
