The bending of Light due to atmosphèric leyers is called atmospheric réfraction.
stars twinkle at night because of atmospheric réfraction.the Light bends at each layer and we did not see the aparent postion of stars thats why stars twinkle.

hope this ans Will help you.

QUESTION:- what is atmospheric refraction? Why do stars twinkle?

ANS:- Atmospheric refraction :- when these light rays passes through the atmosphere which is having different layers of densities and refractive indices
,then the refraction of light taking place.the refraction of light in the earth"s atmosphere is called atmospheric refraction

STARS TWINKLE
===============
Because of the turbulance in the earths atmosphere and the light from the stars are refracted to different directions or positions .which can cause the stars image to change its position and brightness .this is y the stars twinkle
