atom- the smallest possible part of the chemical substances. Every atom consists of a nucleus and electrons. eg. helium contains 2 atoms, O2 contains 8 atoms, Carbon 6 atoms
element- pure substance made up of only one kind of atom, eg. oxygen, carbon, lithium
molecule- small group of atoms held together by covalent bonds, eg. Cl2 ( chlorine) , Iodine( I2), O2( oxygen)
