ATOMIC MASS UNIT :-

The atomic mass unit (amu) is equal to one twelfth (1/12) of the mass of one atom of carbon-12 isotope.

= 1 amu = 1/12×mass of one C-12 atom.

≈mass of one nucleon in C-12 atom.

= 1.66 × 10^-24gm or 1.66×10^-27kg.

ONE AMU IS ALSO CALLED ONE DALTON (Da). NOW-A-DAYS, AMU HAS BEEN REPLACED BY "u" WHICH IS KNOWN AS UNIFIED MASS.
