(1). Atomic radius is nothing but the distance of the outermost shell of an         element containing electrons from the nucleus of the element.

(2). Atomic radius will decrease from left to right as the electrons are added in the same shell and, in the nucleus the number of protons are also increasing.

As the number of electrons are increasing, the nuclear charge will also increase...this charge attracts electrons and helps them to get pulled by the nucleus.
