The number of atoms present in a molecule of an element is known as the atomicity.

  • For example :- The number of atoms present in the molecules of oxygen \rm\:O_2 is 2 ,thus the atomicity of oxygen \rm\:O_2 is 2.It is said to be diatomic.

  • Similarly ozone \rm\:O_3 is triatomic.

  • \rm\:P_4 and\rm\:S_8 are called polyatomic molecules.

Atomic mass :- The atomic mass of an element is a number which express as to how many times an atom of the element is havier than 1/12th of the mass of carbon atom (C¹²).

Atomic number :- This number shows the position of an element in the periodic table. The number of protons present in the nucleus or the number of electrons present outside the nucleus of an atom of an element is known as atomic mass.

  • It is denoted by Z.

Answer:

Atomicity is defined as the total number of atoms that constitute a molecule. For example, each molecule of oxygen is composed of two oxygen atoms. So atomicity of oxygen is 2.In older contexts, the term atomicity is sometimes used in the same sense as
