ATP is Adenosine Tri-phosohate. They are the energy currency of cells. It is the energy-carrying molecule found in the cells of all living things. ATP captures chemical energy obtained from the breakdown of food molecules and releases it to fuel other cellular processes.

They are synthesised after Kreb's cycle i.e. when Glucose is converted into energy in mitochondria. This ATP is stored in the cell and then used later for all purposes like movement of muscles etc.
