Explanation:

Each half of the heart is divided into an upper chamber and a lower chamber; the upper chambers are called auricles and the lower chambers are called ventricles. ... Auricles have thin walls and act as receiving rooms for the blood while the ventricles below act as pumps, moving the blood away from the heart

AURICLES

There are two auricles in the heart. Each one is attached to the anterior surface of the outer-walls of the atria (i.e.left and right atria).

FUNCTIONS

Their purpose is to increase the capacity of the atrium and also increase the volume of blood that is able to contain. Auricle is also called atrial appendage.

VENTRICLES

A ventricle is one of two large chambers toward the bottom of the heart that collect and expel blood received from an atrium towards the peripheral beds within the body and lungs. The atrium (an adjacent/upper heart chamber that is smaller than a ventricle) primes the pump.

FUNCTIONS

There functions is to pump oxygenated blood from the lungs out to the body.
