An autoclave is a pressure chamber used to carry out industrial processes requiring elevated temperature and pressure different from ambient air pressure.

The autoclave carries out that exact function of sterilizing materials. It is a machine that uses pressure and steam to reach and maintain a temperature that is too high for any microorganisms or their spores to live. Autoclaves operate at high temperature and pressure in order to kill microorganisms and spores

They are used to decontaminate certain biological waste and sterilize media, instruments and lab ware.

And now auto claving means heat something inside an autoclave.
