Answer:

Avogadro's law is an experimental gas law relating the volume of a gas to the amount of substance of gas present. The law is a specific case of the ideal gas law. A modern statement is: Avogadro's law states that "equal volumes of all gases, at the same temperature and pressure, have the same number of molecules."

Avagadro's law:

Under similar conditions of temperature and pressure, equal volume of all gases contains equal number of moles.

V is directly proportional to n

Where, V is volume and n is number of moles.

Example:

If we close equal volumes of three gases H2, Cl2 and chlorine in different flasks of same capacity under similar conditions of temperature and pressure, we find that all flasks have same number of molecules.

Applications:

  • Deduction of atomicity of elementary gades.
  • Determination of relationship between vapour density and molecular mass.
