applications in cake industry : the bicarbonate is alkaline in nature and it creates carbon dioxide bubbles when it combines with acid which is useful in making doughs of cake or batter

baking soda used as fire extinguisher : when it is heated with water it give rise to co2 and co2 is a non combustible gas thus it can also be used as the fire extinguisher
