Barter system :

It is the process of exchanging of things instead of a thing.

eg: Giving wheat for buying rice.

Later the barter system is not valid because it give equal value to all the things that is precious and cost low items. instead of giving things for things metal money are used by keeping a constant value for the metal.

they used metal money because they have a knowledge of the metal in that days and it is the only thing that is available ready.
