Behrman is a sixty-year-old painter. He paints a leaf on the wall. It looks like the last leaf on the vine creeper. Johnsy thinks it is the real leaf which does not fall in the ice-cold wind. This inspires a willingness for life in Johnsy's mind. Johnsy gets better soon. So Sue calls this painting Behrman's masterpiece.

behrman was an old artist his masterpiece was the painting of the ivory leaf ...the leaf look so real that none was able to find out that it was just a painting.... sue call it a masterpiece because it save the life of her friend johnsy.....
