The rivers , after descending from the mountains deposits pebbles in narrow belt of about 3 to 16 km in lying parallel to the slopes of the shivalik. It is known as bhabar. All streams disappear in this bhabar belt

Bhabar is a region South of the lower Himalayas and the Shiwalik Hills. It is alluvial apron of sediment washed down from the Shiwalik along the northern edge of the Indo-Gangetic Plain.
