The Big Bang theory is the prevailing cosmological model for the universe from the earliest periods through its subsequent large-scale evolution.

The most widely accepted theory about the origin of universe is Big Bang theory. Astronomers found out that the universe is expanding, i.e., the separation between galaxies is becoming larger and larger. This led them to deduce that everything used to be extremely close together. According to this theory, all the matter in the universe was initially concentrated into a vast mass about 100 million light years wide. About 15 billion years ago, this super-dense mass exploded (hence the name, Big Bang). As a result, matter flew in all directions through space, leading to the formation of the galaxies.
