Binary fission, asexual reproduction by a separation of the body into two new bodies. In the process of binary fission, an organism duplicates its genetic material, or deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), and then divides into two parts (cytokinesis), with each new organism receiving one copy of DNA.

Binary fission is a fission which is type of asexual mode of reproduction. In this process, after proper growth and development, there is duplication in chromosome parent body. Then there is division of Nucleus and cytoplasm, resulting into formation of 2 daughter young ones. Each daughter one further grow in size and again divides by binary fission under favourable conditions to increase their number of young ones.

There are two example of such organisms are :-

  • Amoeba

  • Paramoecium
