What is bioaccumulation and how does it affect species in a food chain?

In every ecosystem, organisms are intricately interconnected through food chains and food webs. When toxins finds their way into an organism, they can build up and linger, a phenomenon called bioaccumulation. Because of interconnections within a food web, bioaccumulated toxins can spread to whole ecosystems.

The process of concentration of harmful substances in body leads to bioaccumulation which get transferred from successive tropic level .

It has dangerous effect on food chain it cause accumulation in greater qantity which lead to death of speices.
