Explanation:
India - Mega diversity center:
India is called a mega diversity center because of the large number and the variety of organisms are found in this country. There are over 40,000 species of plants and over 90,000 species of animals living across a diverse geographical landscape, comprising of sea-coast, mountain, desert, forest, grassland, and marshland ecosystems.
These ecosystems are populated by organisms which are endemic to the Indian subcontinent such as the Asiatic lion, the Kashmir stag, the Black buck, etc. India is also home to many sacred groves, bio-conservatory zones, and protected forests which are important in the conservation and maintenance of this diversity.
