What is biogas? How does it differ from LPG?
1.

The chemical composition of biogas is as follows: 50–85% CH4 (methane); 20–35% CO2; and some other gases, it is produced in a biogas plant by natural degradation of biomass mainly animal dung in absence of oxygen. Whereas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas or LPG consists mainly of propane, propylene, butane, and butylene in various mixtures. It is produced as a by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining.

2.

Biogas is considered renewable energy since it is produced from biomass like cow dung which would otherwise have degraded naturally resulting in wasted methane which is 21 times more harmful greenhouse gas compared to co2. Biogas production also results in useful organic fertilizer. LPG on the other hand, is a fossil fuel and helps in increasing global warming.

3.

Utility wise LPG is more reliable and easy to use as it is supplied in cylinder, so user does not have to bother much. However biogas involved a lot of human intervention and depends on many criterions, requiring operator expertise.
hope this will help u.....

LPG is liquified petroleum gas, thus the name it is extracted from ground and is a petroleum product.. biogas is usually methane made when bacteria feeds on organic things like eggs, when eggs decompose it is actually bacteria feeding on it and make some flammable gases which is collected and used as biogas.. LPG is also made from organic things but are produced inside the earth crust just like coal. by the action of bacteria and high temperature and pressure, Some gases are formed i.e LPG
