Blastopore, the opening by which the cavity of the gastrula, an embryonic stage in animal development, communicates with the exterior. 
Blastopore is the opening present at the gastrula stage of embryonic development in animals that helps them to communicate with the external environment. In protostomes, it becomes animal's mouth while in deuterostomes, it becomes the animal's anus.
