Blood and its Functions
Blood is the fluid connective tissue which is circulating in the body. Blood consists of mainly two components plasma and formed elements.
plasma consists of Alubumin, Globulin and fibrinogens . plasma forms the matrix of blood. fibrinogens are essential for blood clotting. albumin helps in osmotic balance. globulins are involved in the defence mechanism of the body.
Formed elements Institute about 45 percentage of blood . They are mainly of three type ie, RBC, WBC and platelets .
RBC helps in transport of oxygen . It contains a iron containing protein called hemoglobin for this purpose .
WBC are involved in the defence mechanism , they destroy foreign substances , play a major role in allergic reactions , are responsible for immune response etc.
platelets play an important role in the blood clotting
1. Plasma is the fluid part of the blood which transports digested food as well as metabolic
waste products.
2. Red blood cells (RBC) contain a red pigment called haemoglobin which binds with oxygen
and transport it to all parts of the body.
3. White blood cells (WBC) help to fight against germs that may enter our body.
4. Platelets help in the clotting of blood.
